clutch kits

Does anyone have a good source for a clutch kit for a 1974 Triumph tr6 that is reasonably priced and good? also hard finding one in stock.

BPNW. Did you try them.
Would be at your door the next day. Candy too.

Why buy a kit? 9 times out of 10, only the friction plate needs to be relined.

TRF has the B&B kit on sale, which usually means they have them in stock

tim, IMHO what you want to look for in a kit is the SACHS SC436 pressure plate, bronze alloy throwout bearing sleeve and perhaps the Koyo throwout bearing. Best to avoid the "stock" RHP throwout bearing. The new crop of RHP bearing have gotten some bad reports. The friction disc can be just about any of the brands that fit. BPNW has all this in kit form now I believe.
This is a repair you don't want to go with the cheapest stuff as it is no fun turning around a few months/miles later and have to pull the gearbox out again. Be sure to use the alignment dowels for the pressure plate to flywheel, and bell housing to rear engine plate.

People give discounts on BPNW stuff.
That's new,...to me

Tim, while you are in there you've got to really inspect the crossshaft - fork - and fork pin that fastens the fork to the crossshaft. Some will say to go ahead and replace all with new, depending on age and mileage on these bits. A lot of clutch failures have been attributed to pin shear, something that is not always visible. Visit the Buckeye Triumph technical reports for more info.

thanks again everyone. I went to BPNW and got a water pump instead. I am waiting on the clutch since I spoke with a british part mechanic. they think it may be something more than the clutch, since the gears go in and the clutch isn't even depressed. Also there is no noise when I put it into gear. kind of frustrating because I have no idea what it could be. I would love to hear some hypothesis about it if you got em. Thanks.
