TR2/3/3A Clutch bleed using"gravity bleed" method?

Who was it that mentioned that he had great success bleeding the clutch hydraulic system by just taking the cap off the resevoir ,opening the slave bleeder and letting gravity bleed the system while monitoring the level in the resevoir. Does this really work and how long does it take to accomplish?

Not sure I'd want the cap off for that long. As with the Mitvac thread might be easier to just slowly pump the pedal until you get close then use a vacuum device or helper to finish it. It is a small line with little overall distance, shouldn't take long.

I gravity bleed hydraulic systems all the time. Brakes can be a bit time consuming so I will sometimes use other methods, but clutches are pretty easy to do this way. Here's a short tutorial on gravity bleeding the clutch...

Thanks for the info. I haven't had much luck with all the other methods so I thought I'd give this a try. :eagerness:

Me too. You can bleed the reservoir dry in about 5 minutes, so it doesn't take long at all. The only stipulation is that you have to have a primed MC. If there is still a big bubble in the MC, sometimes it takes a few pumps to get the brake fluid started.
