clutch actuator bushing removal

I am replacing the clutch in my 69 TR6 and have a new clutch actuator arm and bushings from TRF. What is the best way to remove and replace the bushings in the bell housing? Also pressing the new throw out bearing to carrier?

Barry, I have done this a couple of times and found the best way to get the old ones out is using a hand held hacksaw blade, the small one with the blade exposed and cut the bush in half top and bottom, if necessary, if you happen to hit the case, it's not a big issue.
Never had any trouble drifting a throw out bearing onto the carrier with a soft hammer. The bearing being on a vise and taping on the carrier, use some grease on both and clean it off when finished.

I found a couple of washers that were just the right size and was able to pull the bushings out with a long bolt. Not sure if that was just pure luck but you might be able to do the same thing pretty easily.

Randy, Thanks, you were lucky. Most of the ones I have had to deal with were worn out and very thin. Just cut in half and save a lot of frustration.

I used a socket and tapped them in and out w/ a hammer. Hammer will fix anything, right.


Going in was trickier since I put them in from the inside. I put a socket inside the bushing to help see that it was straight when getting it started.
