Anybody have one of the new ones. Been thinking of getting one but need feedback as to how they drive compared to the regular new Mini???

A friend of mine bought one several months ago. I have only ridden in it once. His Clubman has the lower hp engine and he is more than happy with it. He has commented that he doesn't know what he would do with more power. He owned a classic Mini before and moved to the the Clubman from an older 3-series BMW. He has commented many times on how much better/quicker the handling is on the MINI compared to his old BMW.

I bought a JCW Clubman last August and love it. I use it as a d/d which requires me to travel on both highways and city traffic throughout the day and it's a joy to drive. It's louder (interior cabin noise) and not as spacious as our BMW X5, but at 35hwy/25cty mileage I can turn the Harman/Kardons up a little. My wife loves it too, it's hard to get her out of it on the weekends. The 208hp isn't bad either.......

I had an MCS and basically pooh-poohed the JCW upgrade UNTIL I rode in one! Holy moly, that's a big difference.

The difference between about 173 WHP and 200+ is amazing and transforms the car from "pretty darn fast" to "WHOA".

Pricey, but HP is never cheap!

Dougie: keep the shiny side up! :yesnod:

Nice color, matches my 03 S perfectly. Have been trying to get the wife in the Clubman, keeps getting cold feet as her D/D is a 96 Discovery. Keep telling her the fuel difference would mwke the payments.

Larry -

Check this out, my wife's d/d was a 03 Discovery until I took it on a "guys" ski
weekend in Bend , OR. I was passing through Warms Springs Indian Res. and a "local" ran a stop sign and I T-boned him and totaled the Land Rover. The air bag didn't deploy and I walk away to ski and snow mobil the following 3 days. No pain...........may have been the booze though. The wife got a new BMW
X5 4.8I and she loves it , but would still would take the Clubman if I let her.

Dougie:

Showed the wife the pics of your old Disco. Same color as ours. Now she figures she'll stay in it a while longer as it will protect her more than the MINI. Glad you came out OK!!!

Just picked up a 2010 Cooper S Clubman for d/d and weekend fun. Pepper White. Pics later .... after I clean it. First day out - snow, ice, small hail. LOL She did fine. Not sure I like run flat tires so that may be up for a change. They are harsh, create cabin noise and have read they suck on snow. MPG on highway at 5200 to 6500 ft altitude has been 34 - 39 mpg. Works for me!

In any case Bev and I are ready for some road trips in her.

Do it. It's the best, most fun car I've owned and Ive owned alot

Since our last postings, my Wife traded her Green Disco for a new Green 2011 Cooper S Countryman ( 4-door ). Five Star crash rating all around the highest rated for a MINI. She loves it and we just came back from Fla. averaging 30 mpgs. in 2156 miles in 4 days.

Sounds like you made the right more. I still love my JCW Clubman dd. It really does great in the Oregon rain......once I changed out the run-flats.
