Closing my business

after alot of thought..and alot of pain, I've decided to close my shop and liquidate my tools, parts and all my cars. Due to things beyond my control, I no longer will be able to continue, nor do I have the drive that I did even a year ago. I started contacting freinds, customer and business people I work with and started offering everything up. As soon as I can clean out the shop and get all the loose ends finished, I'll sell off all my tools, air comps , welders torches and plasma cutters. Then all the cars go. If I can't get what I figure would be a fair...although I'm sure very low price, then I'll turn the titles over to the state and destroy whats left. I won't haggle...just say what I want and if that can't be done its over. I want someone that can handle it to take all the LBC cars and parts, I don't want to parcel them out. This isn't a for sale ad. so please don't delete it...just info. The shut-down starts now so I'll post a pictures of the cars and parts and if anyone is REALLY interested I'll take and e-mail all the pics you could want. Plpease let me know as I'd really hate to recycle an A coupe, a nice CGT and quite a few Bs. Thx. Jack

Sorry to hear this jack. Economy got you down like all of us? To bad you were not just a wee bit closer.

Not the economy..am just tired..customer service sucks...people aren't like they used to be. I even thought of just buying, building and selling, but can't do it alone and besides..the desire is gone. Its a shame to realize that most of this stuff won't sell and I'm not going to donate it. I'll also be off line soon, shop phone will be off so I'll post an ad. and include my cell phone..it'll be on for a while longer.

Dang Jack- that is just so d**mned sorry to hear.
Small business is the backbone of America.

Maybe you could continue on a one by one basis, part time?

wishing you all the best.

I remember you talking about this about a year or so ago....it does take time to make a decision like that....enjoy the next phase of your life without cars.

Know exactly what you are talking about. Some of those experiences can cut pretty deep. After a lot of years where I could not even bring myself to work on my own cars I am finally doing some and have been enjoying our TR6.

All the best.

Sorry to hear of the decision, Jack, but it's certainly understandable. Best of luck with the sale and the next phase of your life.

Happy Trails, Jack. It is all a journey. I wish I could stop filling teeth. Or knock a few out.

That MGC has value, and lots of it. Someone out there will fall in love with her.....don't give it away.

That's understandable Jack. I hope all goes well for you. I'd jump on that lot of cars, I'd love to have an MGA coupe, but that ain't in the cards for me.
Best of luck.

Jack,

Sorry to hear - hope things go well.
I hope that you'll post the cars, garage stuff
for sale here.I'd like to see it go to the
right people.

A guy yesterday saw my CGT and said a Chevy V-8 would look good in it..GAG..asked him to leave..same was said of the A coupe a while back by a kid...told him I'd torch it before that happened. I'm making huge piles of all things MG at the shop..pile is big and will be alot bigger this week-end. My wife wants me to have a "yard sale" but all the LBC owners are roosting in my shop...not many around here. I thought evilbay...makes me sick to even go there. I've parted out (over the years) many early to mid 60s Bs...and many newer ones since then. I doubt much..if any of it will sell..we're so isolated here. I drove my CGT yesterday..and if the o/d problem is straightened out in the 76b today...will take that out tonite..trying to untie my brain and feel better...

Jack, many of us here have sold TONS of stuff on eBay with not a single problem. I've personally bought and sold many, many thousands of dollars worth of LBC parts on Ebay, never once have I had any problem with the transaction. This includes purchases on eBay UK, the British eBay version. No problemo!

I've also sold about 5 cars on eBay and obtained tip top retail price for each one. I actually got about 25% more than the retail value of my '70 GT6 on eBay, a real windfall.

I buy cars on eBay as well. No problems.

If you faithfully disclose the condition of the stuff you're selling, there's no way to lose by selling on eBay. There's nothing like it for getting rid of hard-to-sell items.

Jack, I urge you to take another look at eBay for liquidating your business stuff. If you're like me and need the money, you cannot ignore the marketplace that eBay provides.

Let us know if we can help with assistance or advice, and the best of luck to you. I've sold a small business before myself, it's not easy. Venues like eBay can make life a bit easier, and the extra money for stuff you didn't think would sell makes the pain of closing the doors a bit better.

Best wishes to you.

Jack, here in Hawaii, and hopefully near you, there are consignment ebay seller shops opening up. They handle all the details of the transaction, posting your info, the sale, delivery, etc. for a fee.. May consider something like that.
