Clocks and Rally Timers

It always bothered me that there was no clock in my BJ8, since I never how long I had been gone and how much trouble I'd be in when I returned home. So I started looking around for something.

I originally found a great old Waltham 8 day car clock, and made a backplate for it to fit onto the dash without having to make any holes. It sat over the speaker grill. But one thing led to another, and I decided that it was nice, but not exactly right. So next I found on old Smith's dash clock, with a magnet back. Ran great and seemed right on the money.

But in the process, I started coming across old Heuer rally timers, like the Heuer Master Time, Monte Carlo and the combo Rallye Master. This stuff was the top of the line, very cool looking and rare. Anyone else interested in these things?

Scott,
I was looking over these mechanical timers and clocks but at thousands of dollars would be hard to justify unless I got really serious and the rules stated mechanical / period only navigational aids. They are cool though eh?

Brand by the name of Halda used to do a lot of this stuff years ago

Halda had the twinmaster and the tripmaster, which were very useful but came nowhere near the cool of a Heuer Rallye Master.

Hey Anthony. They look large because it's a close up photo. The backplate is only 2.25" and the clocks are about 50mm. So who's this guy you know? Do you have his ebay name?

Anthony, I am really enjoying my watch from the Austin Healey Club of Denmark. I was recently on a flight back from Germany and the older gentleman next to me noticed the watch and said "Ah, Austin Healey!". These were the only two words we shared on the entire flight as he spoke not a word of english and I no German.

Michael, I'll be really happy to trade you two (that's right, count 'em, 2) $15 watches for your rallye master set. Heck, I'll throw in some Lucas smoke as well. Right now, I've got a Smith's dash clock and a Heuer Monte Carlo. I would really love to have the rallye master set.

shg, i didnt say i knew the guy ,only that id seen his stuff on ebay and he does show up there once in a while, besides even if i knew his name i wouldnt give it out, remember my vow to "never endorse a prooduct or sevice ever again on this or anyother forum" im still trying to figure out what could be done with the two diff.size headlight rings you got,im glad we didnt run into each other back then i know i would have ended up with a black eye, broken nose,or a split lip!drove my healey around for the rest of the summer constantly looking in my rear view mirror waiting for a white healey to sneek up.if i spy him again ill alert ya. layda! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

A very generous offer indeed but I think I will pass. After all, what would I do with three wrist watches?

now that's not fair. first, I told you it had nothing to do with you. second, as brother percussionists, you know I wouldn't waste my chops that way. And third, my BJ8 would never be behind you. If front, maybe, but never behind. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif

shg, your attempting to catch me on/in your white stallion, and myself trying to avoid you in my black "scallion" is a frightening reacuring nightmare ive had now for months, second only to the one i have of keoke rummaging through my bin! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazyeyes.gif

Doesn’t your car need to be green over white to qualify as a scallion?

P.S. keep the photos coming. I’m always trying to guess what you’ll stick in or on your car next. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
