Climate-controlled storage unit

At the air museum we have artifacts (engineering models, WW2 uniforms, radios, etc.) and print material (books and manuals) which are rarely used in our aviation research work. Like many non-profits, we're running out of storage space in our building.

Would anyone have experience in purchasing climate-controlled storage units, like "pods" - but with temp, humidity, critter, and dust control? We'd need approximate storage space of a semi-trailer, or several 15 foot box trucks. We want to buy a unit(s), or multi-year lease - not monthly rentals.

I can find many businesses which will rent climate controlled units on their own property - but I want to keep all our materials on our *own* property, so we can access them when needed.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

What about shipping containers with some foam insulation sprayed in them and a mini-split for climate control?

I have been involved with 5 installations of the Blue Ridge systems from Alpine Home Air. They have been flawless.

Thanks for the comments. I like the insulated shipping container idea, as long as it's raised off the ground and rodent proof.

How well do those Blue Ridge heat pump systems operate when outside temps drop to around 0 degrees? I've heard they're not very effective when outside is below 40 degrees.

Thanks.
