TR6 Clicking sound when accelerating

I’ve owned my 6 for about 2 months and I absolutely love it. It’s a fantastic automobile and feel blessed to have it.

About 4 days ago, I noticed a faint ticking when I am in 1st gear and as I accelerate, the ticking increases in speed. It sound similar to a piece of paper hitting fan blades.

I’ve noticed my oil pressure is low and will get an oil change tomorrow.

what else could it be? Anyone else experience this?
 
Check for an exhaust leak...anywhere from the exhaust manifold on back
 
If it happens at idle with the car not moving then maybe tach cable, or only when you’re under way then possibly the speedometer cable (?).
 
Faster in 3d and 4th would seem to correlate with what a drive train does at or after the transmission output shaft. Components from there to U-Joints to wheels move faster in higher gears. Location of sound seems like something connected to the right front wheel.

+1 for the timiing to be to advanced. The noise is called pinging or pinking. Have an experienced person check the timing on the car.

Yet stay, I have another thought. Dunno what kind of wheels, hub covers, hub caps, etc., you have, but this could easily be a pebble inside a hollow place.

It could be engine pinking (detonation). In my experience, this is most likely to arise in a warm engine while driving under load (uphill, etc), in a higher gear (3rd or 4th). Engine pinking can usually be modulated with the gas pedal - if you back off the gas when the engine pinks, the pinking sound will attenuate. I would guess a constant ticking could be something else.
 
Yeah, pinking sounds like a metallic rattling sound under the conditions "chlem" described.
 
Test while traveling in any gear at any speed put the clutch in on a down hill with backing off gas peddle. This will allow you to see if tack cable or speedo cable is at fault. also this is now not under a load so pinging would stop, U joints normal fail and knock with power load on and off. Also check ATL bearing and belt tension it does not have to be tight 1/2 inch flex. Last as you are new to the car when you change your oil add 1/2 can of SEAFOAM to your oil and the other 1/2 to your fuel tank. If this car was not a reg. driver things are now moving around
