Clearing air pockets

I have a 1980 tr-7 and recently changed the temp sending unit, thermostat and radiator. I am assuming that I need to dissolve
air pockets. Is it best to run the car for 15-20 minutes with the radiator cap off to get it to burp?

Thanks,

And burp it should if you drained the block while you were at it. Just run it for about 10-15 minutes with the expansion tank cap off, and after the thermostat opens. If memory serves me, it burped pretty good 3-4 times, draining the expansion tank by about 2/3 or more each time. After that put the cap on and let it pressurize, then cool and check again.

Thanks for your response. I ran it for about 20 minutes and did not hear any burping . I did notice tiny air bubbles rising to the surface of the Exp tank. I replaced the lower radiator hose prior to refilling since the old one was spongy and covered with oil. Advance Auto parts sold it for $10 about
50% less than other suppliers.
