Clear Lenses

Bought some clear front lenses from Moss, which I assume are the same as what I would get from AHS. They aren't nearly as clear as what is on the car. And the ones on the car don't really match that well either. Here's a photo of the Moss lens (on the right) next to the nicest one on the car right now. I could just use the two Moss lenses that match, but I like the crystal clear look better. It looks like glass.

So the question is... who sells a nice lens like the clear one in the photo? (I know the one on the right is upside down, just screwed it on lightly for the comparison photo)

They look the same and I had a similar problem when I came across a spare. I had to thoroughly clean the back side, remove any grime and residue that has caked on for years. There are a number of ways to clean. But I'll leave that to others to best recommend.

Also check the escutcheon side (the mounting chrome piece) for dirt, debris, etc.

Good luck.

I may not have been clear in my post. Both lenses are spotless clean. The milky one on the right is actually the NEW one. I'm looking for something higher quality like the one on the left, which is much older.

The milky one may be old ??

In the UK you find a lot of these originals being sold by small traders at car shows. They were not just for Healeys. You could try eBay. New ones will never be the like the originals.

As noted above the milky one isn't old. It's brand new.

Derek, thanks for the tip. If the nice clear ones are originals, then I'll go on the hunt for some.

EDIT: I just realized these don't say LUCAS on them so they can't be originals. So... someone out there is selling better clear lenses than what Moss offers. The question is who.

Perhaps, but I really like the look of the clear ones. They look like glass and that's always a nice look, like was used on many earlier automobiles. And I don't use LED bulbs so I don't need the dispersion anyway.
