Cleaning Up / Less Clutter in Engine Bay

I now have the BE with the 1275, running well and all of the lines hooked up. I was looking at making the engine compartment look less cluttered. When I was just hooking things up to get it to work I was just hooking things up and never really cared what it looked like. Now I am at that stage where it works, now I want to make it look good.

Im just kind of looking for things other people have done to clean it up the look or thoughts. Or any good ideas of making wires or anything.

Also, I have the 1275 with an oil cooler, I was thinking of mounting the oil cooler in front of the radiator is this a good spot, or where is a good spot to put the cooler. It does have the adjustable rails on it still.

TIA
Mike

Hi Mike,

I`m sure we`ve all been there or are where you are at on time or another. I believe the best way to help you out would be for Yourself to post some pics here so we can all see "Where you are at now".

My vote for the oil cooler is mounted between the front frame rails. Leave as much room between the two as possible to allow for some air mixing into the radiator so you don't get a "hot spot" from the oil cooler exit air.

If you are using a front hinged BE Bonnet got to do a whole lot of measuring and test fitting for the oil cooler. I've got a BE Bonnet on my '68 and the oil cooler mounting turned out to be one of the biggest challenges in fitting. Now I've got a crossflow instead of a downflow but that should not make much of a difference. I can provide pics if that would help.

Oil cooler hoses, I did need to drill two 1" holes in the side of the radiator shrouds to run the hoses through. Took a lot of cogitation but I finally did get all to work and it dropped my temps and keeps oil pressure about 5-7 lbs higher on low high speed runs in the summer.

I, too, drilled two (2) holes in the side of the radiator shroud to run hoses to the oil cooler. It represented, to me, (given that my bonnet tilts forward and I have a fan on the radiator) the most logical configuration for the oil cooler.
