Cleaning/Polishing windshield side posts

The windshield posts on my'69 B are looking quite dull and in need of a serious cleaning and polishing. I am assuming that these are stainless steel pieces, no? What is the best way to brighten these up? They sure would look good chromed, wouldn't they? Any ideas? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I don't have a B but on my Midget they are anodized aluminum. To polish them you must first sand through the anodizing before you can polish the aluminum. Though once you have done this they shine just like brand new crome.

Yes, they are aluminum. It takes a lot of polishing but when you finally get through all that annodizing they shine up very nicely. I gave up on polishing mine myself and took them to a professional who did a great job, but also broke the little tab at the top where the side snap for the top goes. Careful on that part!

I don't have any closeup shots but here's an overall with the polished windshield frame: https://www.lbcnuts.com/mg/mgb/photos/mgb1.jpg
