I am a brand new mini owner. Year 2000 built by Rover. And, just received it from UK into Ventura... The vehicle was packed in Wax Oil which has left a crusty looking resedue on the finish. I need some suggestions as to what compound to use to clean this off and get the vinish back to new looking. Any thoughts and suggestions would be really welcome...

Hi dptom, I would suggest first wash completely in Dawn dishwahing detergent. (Not any other brand). Dawn will do a real good job of taking all the oils and waxes off the car. Then, I would recommend doing a complete Zaino treatment. Zaino is a multi-step process, but once you do the initial steps, then you just add polish whenever you need to. But once the car is washed with Dawn, you would use "Clay Bar" on the entire car. You can get this from Zaino also. It looks like silly putty and you rub it all over the entire car, small sections at a time -- keeping the area being worked wet with a spray bottle of water. Once you have clay bared the car (this takes out all the microscopic impurities), then you use Z1 "Polish lock" followed by either Z2 or Z5 show car polish.

NOT DOVE!! No no no! Must use Dawn Dishwashing Detergent. That will take any old waxes or polished and oils off the car and leave just bare paint. As for proportions, I never really measure it out, I just give a couple of good squirts in a plastic bucket of warm water - enought to get a good head of suds.
