Looking for advice on cleaning engine block, rear axle/diff and other large items.
I have a small pressure washer, should I use detergent and pressure washer, or solvent like Varsol and a paint brush?
Simon.

Buy a gallon of the purple degreaser and put it in a spray bottle. Spray everthing down with it and let it set awhile. Then hit it with water (hose or pressure washer).

Wear old clothes and eye protection, the water will always catch an edge and come right back at you, but it is the best way. Wayne

Make sure you oil everything down after you clean it to prevent rusting. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You can always take them to the carwash at night and use their pressure. I had my block hot tanked after I cleaned off the outside with 2" Scotchbrite pads on a die grinder and a wire brush on a right angle grinder. For the rear-axle, I blasted it outside with black beauty, then had it hot tanked before repainting it.

For smaller parts, anything that will fit in my blast cabinet gets glass beaded before I powdercoat it.
