"Classics on the James" show 9/20: Who's goin??

I've registered my Midget in the Central VA British Car Club's "Classics on the James" show in Richmond at Brown's Island on Sept. 20.

It would be great to meet any BCF'ers who plan to go. If you go, look me up. I'm about 6'2", thin, with short grey hair. My MG is a '74 (RWA) MKIII, glacier white with Autumn Leaf interior and rostyle wheels. I'll be there by 9am.

Who's goin???? :confuse:

Re: "Classics on the James" show 9/20: Who's goin??

I saw in our database that you were registered Mark. I am the President of the club. I have a 1964 MGB Tourer, green with a white stripe. I'll be working the show (responsible for exhibitors). But I'll find you. Midgets will be over along the river side of the island with a great view and probably a nice breeze, close to a huge display by a local high end detail shop. Over 300 cars will be there, 60 MGs, and there will be a little everything European including a couple of Smart cars.

I was out on the island yesterday helping to set up the field. It is going to be spectacular. Below is what your dash plaque will look like.

When you pull across the bridge and get where they sign you in and give you your packet, tell the people there to get me on the radio and tell me that you're there. I am 50, white, 5'8", medium build, usually wear a green and tan MG cap, and will have a club name tag on. I'll be there by 6:30, so I will also look sleepy.

Mark,

Here is the view you'll have from where the Midgets are displayed. I took this photo yesterday. Midgets and A-H Sprites will be two separate classes by the way. See you next week.

Thanks, Jim. Didn't know you were President, congrats to you!

I'll be sure to look you up at the show. Thanks for the PM, best wishes and good luck for an excellent show. You guys really know how to put on a fabulous show, my hat's off to you and all your volunteers.

I urge any of you who are within driving distance to attend this excellent car show. Beautiful cars, absolutely beautiful location, good food, great fellowship. Can beat it, an LBC lover's paradise.

Cheers, see you there!

My daughter lives in the area and I've always loved the view from the bridges traveling through Richmond. Too bad she doesn't have one of my Spitfires up there so she could particpate.

Tell her to come on out as a spectator ($5, proceeds to charity). When the weather is nice we get well over 1000 paid spectators in addition to the car owners and exhibitors.

I learned from two of the dealers that will have exhibits that we will have a 1964 Ferrari 250 Lusso (said to be a $1.2 million car) and a brand new Ferrari California Spider. I had to tell the Lusso owner that his may not be the only one there!!!! Should be nice.

Re: "Classics on the James" show 9/20: Who's goin??

Thanks for posting the pix of my car. It was great to finally meet you in person!

What a great show. The best thing, IMHO, about the show is that key, old examples of the marques were represented. Two Silverstone race MGAs, for example (only a few exist worldwide); the boat tail early racer MGs (stunning), etc.

62 MGs on display; the Richmond Ferrari club, with million dollar-plus examples!; plenty of vintage cars, including stunnning old Rolls-Royces.

My head was spinning all day long.

My regards to the Central VA British Car Club for a job VERY well done!

Cheers to you all, hope to see you at MY club's show, the Shenandoah Valley Brit Car Club's show on Oct. 3.

Can't wait!
