Enjoying some of this as I type... Yummmmm.
Genesee Heritage collection
Even comes in the old fat bottles.
Wife says, "looks like a medicine bottle"
I said,"It kinda is....."

the doc has ruined you... :jester:

"Life's too short to drink cheap beer"

I'll admit, no CAB for me. Good local brews (yes, they brew here in Utah) are the thing.

Sometimes I think about it this way,
"Life's to short to wait to save up for expensive beer."
Genny is a local brew for me. I'm a mere 2 hour drive from the brewery in Rochester.
Actually the heritage stuff is pretty good.
Gotta say, Genny Cream Ale is god-awful. I can't do that stuff.
Usually I go to the local micro brewery (Horseheads Brewing) about a mile and a half from my house, and get my growlers filled. Now that's some good stuff.
And I just noticed another micro brewery (Upstate Brewing) opening up about 2 miles away in the other direction. I'll have to sample their wares here soon.

Well said. As long as it's refreshing and hits the spot, then it's good beer.

Genny Cream Ale is awful!! Goes to show you why they make Chocolate and Vanilla ice cream. Different strokes for different folks. I like their cream ale! I like the taste of ale better than beer anyway. With 4 1/2 years in the Navy, I've tasted a lot of beer and I would have to say as far as beers go, Bavarian/German beer is the best I've had. Hard to beat those German brew masters. JMHO. PJ

You're right Paul. There's gotta be a reason they've been selling cream ale for so long. I like ales too, but I tend to lean more on the stout and porter side. Wheat beer, cream ale, most of that sweeter stuff is not my first choice. I do enjoy a good IPA, and pilsner.
I can't get to Germany (I agree they are probably the worlds best) so I usually stick to the local hand made micro brews.
SO I will add the disclaimer that all statements I make about different beers are completely my own opinion.
P.S. give me a bowl of French Vanilla.....;D

My in-laws are in Roch, NY...I'm not really a fan of Genny Cream Ale either. This past Christmas I was sampling the Genny beers. I gravitated toward the Bock and one other one that I can't remember. When I'm in Rochester I look for beer from this place: Beer Southern Maine has quite a few good breweries. The newest one to open seems to have forced all the old ones into upping their game. Lots of good stuff to choose from. :thirsty:

Genny Screamers are like a right of passage if you go to college in NY.

An ice-cold Genny Heritage wouldn't hurt my feelin's a bit.

Stroh's was a "home" one, too. And pony bottles of Rolling Rock.

See, that's why you're off-kilter in all those other ways!

Doc, I don't think it's your feelings you need to worry about hurting by drinking Genny.

Funny thing about beers though and I don't know why but, seems like as the evening gets closer to bed time, they all taste the same!
Wonder why that is?

I agree. Right now I'm enjoying a Trappist ale (Westmalle Tripel). But, if I had to chose among the CABs, it would most likely be a Pabst Blue Ribbon. I haven't had a Genny Cream Ale in a number of years, but I remember that it was pretty good...not a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, but OK.

Pabst Blue Ribbon tall boys, a buck on the golf course.
Can't beat that

Gosh there are so many excellent micro-breweries today that it is impossible to pick a favorite. Every time I think I have, I find another or my favorite purveyor of fine beans suggests another and I just have to start all over again. I don't mind that though.

Shiner Bock does wonders for me

When I was a young man, I was fortunate enough to get a few cases of
Trommer's White Label beer. It was the best domestic beer I had ever tasted. Sadly It's been NLA since the early '70's. :cryin:
