Clamping down the battery

Thought I would start off by doing something simple, sort of working up to the more complex and intimidating projects to get my B back on the road. The newly arrived clamp is proving trouble some. First of all, the bolt and nut set is just wrong - bolts are to long so have to be cut to fit under the lip of the battery box - or at least to allow enough room to put the clamp bar and bolts on. Next, the thread is too short meaning that 3 or 4 washers will have to be used to allow everything to snug down - and this is after I manage to thread the nut onto the forward bolt. Hmmm. Perhaps I have the wrong size battery - group 24 or is this a DPO legacy??

I would bet that your battery is not the same size as the orginial.

Yep - I had that thought as well Jack - still the clamp bolts would have been even more over sized with a smaller battery. I think I am just going to use a large strap around the whole thing so I can move on to other projects. I mean, this is only step 5 on Tony's list for awakening a B.....

Ha, the orginial batteries were great huge things.
