Churchill tool I.D.

I got a tool with a box of old Jag parts and I was wondering if someone could ID it by the number (JD6D/4).
It looks like something to make a flange in an exhaust pipe. It would be nice to know if it's something important, before I grind it and start using it in my press for common pressing.
Phil.

Got a picture of it?

Here's a photo of the tool. A rod from a press goes into the mushroom shaped thing and that fits into the bevel of the ring. It even has a bearing there, so it must spin while being pressed. I have 2 BMC tool books and 1 Layland tool book, but it's not in any of them. It must be after 1975.

Let's give it one more try to get a photo in, then i'll give up.

Hello Phil,
These are two parts of an XJ6 and XJS front spring tool. The large "ring" sits in a recess in the spring pan, and the ball socket sits in the inside of the ring. There is a long threaded rod, and a T shaped handle, a triangular bronze retainer of sorts, and a really thick C clip retainer that goes with it. This should fit all XJ6 from 69 to 87, Series 3 XJ12s, and all XJSs. Hope this helps

Jesse

Thanks, Jesse,

I can see how that will work. I work in a Jag rest. shop, but all we work on are XK's and E's. They don't have front springs, so this will be just another thing in a box lot at my estate sale. Hopefully, not too soon.

Phil.
