Forty year old rheostat is just wonderful. All lights are now checked and functioning. Tag lamps, tail-lights, brakes, headlamps, running lights, turn signals...
YIPPEE!!! Time fer a BEER!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif
you got all them lights wired into the rheostat?!?! You might want to re-check that - hehehe. I guess having the ability to dim ALL the lights might be pretty cool though.
My next big fix (besides the heater) is the high beams. I looked at the wiring and the PO connected everything with wire nuts (used in house wiring) Auuuugggghhh!!!

Wire nuts!?!? I lump crimp fasteners in the same category. Either solder it and shrink tubing, or just twist it together and tape it... so ya can solder it later.
Ahoh, I have a bigger problem. One of my hooters is flat. I'm trying to get it pumped up again. Voltage to it but no sound.

As with the air horns on my trucks, your horn is "tunable". There is a large nut (thin metal) that holds a treaded shaft. If you get the nut loose, then you can screw the shaft in and out to change the tone of the horn. If the horn has not worked in a while (like on my big truck) then there may be bugs in it. With the air horn when we got it to work again it blasted bugs all over everyone standing under it. Including my sister with a new hair do. But back on point, the horn sound can be changed within the limits of the horn. Oh, you must be blowing the horn as you change it so you know when to stop.
