Chrome Trim Ring on Headlight Gone

I moved back to my hometown and the roads here are horrific. When I drive the midget I cant even enjoy it cause it non stop banging and trying to avoid the holes and raises in the pavement (every street for miles & miles). Anyway, on the way home tonight the chrome trim ring came off somewhere along the way of hitting a REAL BAD stretch of road. I have a spare that isn't as shiny but will work for now that I put on but want to be sure how it goes on. There is a cut out groove on the inside I lined up with a clip on the headlight assembly (at the bottom) and pushed it in and bumped it all the way around with the palm of my hand. It seems tight and if I tug on it a bit it seems like its on. Am I installing this right?

Sounds right.

Lakewood, huh? I've a house east of ya: GOTL.

I looked in the moss catalog and cant believe how much they want just for one ring. They have them priced at $45 plus whatever the shipping is. I have 2 spares but they are heavily tarnished and need re-chromed. Im thinking about looking into how much it would cost for the chrome work and have them on the shelf.

Thanks John-Peter Smit but those are not the style I have on my midget. Mine is a 78 Midget which may be a bit different. Im not sure that those are for tail lights as they are round yet the picture doesnt communicate the size of them. After looking at my entire assembly I may buy the entire headlight unit as I think the retainer clip that holds the outside chrome ring may not be doing its job. On the other side I could walk the road for a bit and see if I can locate it. I just dread going back over that way. Its perfect for an armored tank to drive through but not a midget. I imagine it has a few dings in it from bouncing in the road anyway but who knows. The spare I had will work but it bugs me a bit cause there is a section on it that the chrome is dull and faided. I tried and polish it out but no luck.
