Chrome Spokes for my Healey

Well Guys... I feel sufficiently admonished... Standing on the bridge, as it were, with a set of home-made wings strapped to my back and ready to jump....

It is a valid issue and one not to be taken lightly... Although, in the many years I have owned and been around LBCs, I don't think I have ever heard of a case where a wire wheel has failed, other than one that failed due to a structural rather than a design failure.

However, I don't wish to be the first... As I said, strength is a valid consideration...

Thanks, as usual, for your candid comments.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Re the 60 spokes

My understanding is that the Dunlop 60 spoke wheels will not fit on the front but the Daytons will. The pattern is different. Dunlop 72s will fit

An update,

I spoke with Allen Hendrix this morning who has assured me that the Dayton 60 spoke will work on my drum brake, Abingdon built BN4...

I spoke with Jim at British Wire Wheel who told me that the 60 spoke, regardless of the manufacturer, will not work on my car??? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Anybody out there have a BN4, Abingdon built, drum brake, 60 spoke wheel installed car??? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Allen sold me the 60 spoke Daytons for my BN4 100-6. Again, mine is a Longbridge built, but it has the same front drum rubbing problem with the Dunlops. No problem with the Daytons. I would trust Allen's judgement, because I went to him with the same concerns last spring when I bought my wheels and tires.

longbridgehealey,

Thanks for the info...and with that, I will be placing an order today or early next week with Allen....

By the way.. The website I offered that deatils the production history of the Longbridge/Abingdon built Big Healeys was graciously offered to me by one of our Forum compatriots.. DerekJ .. The thanks should go to him...
