well, i am really dissapointed in the rims i purchased from moss. 60 spoke rims that were so out of round, was a joke. unfortunately, i bought them before i finished restoring my car, only to find out 8 months later that they are really bent. thought the balance was out, but the guy hooked up a roller to the tires and spun them at 60 mph and wowwwww, not even close to true, so not sure what to do now.

Re: chrome spoked wheeles from moss, dont buy

I have unlocked this thread at the request of Moss Motors. I expect their rep will be along shortly to address this.

In the future, if you have a problem with any vendor, please take it up with the vendor off-forum first. Then, if you still have an issue, you can post the details of your experience in our Vendor Review forum, which was established for exatly that purpose.

Thanks Basil,
I was responding when the thread was closed last night.

Mudd,
Sorry to hear of your issues.
Can you give more details? We have had excellent success with our wire wheels. Were they balanced on the car? That's what it sounds like when you state the guy hooked up a roller to the tires. This is the proper way to balance them. Is it 1 wheel or all 4?
The most common complaint is from using improper, usually modern equipment, to balance them. We have an article on it here.

Were the hubs new?
We stand behind what we sell and we will find a solution. You won't be stuck. Please also get me your customer number and invoice number if you can so we can research the batch they came from.

I have already prompted our tech services manager and he is waiting more details.

Thanks,

Shawn

I agree with Basil and Reid, give Moss a call and I am confident they will take care of you. I just saw this or would have posted sooner. Been a Moss customer for over 32 years and very satisfied with them.

I have had painted, 60 spoke WW from Moss stamped made in India for over 9 years and no problem except one spoke broke last year. I was skeptical of them being made in India but no problems. Hendrix put new tires and tubes last year and trued everything and its perfect. When they were new, nine years ago, there was one wheel that Moss quickly replace because the wheel guru in Santa Cruz could not adjust it. Stuff happens but Moss is great about it.

I've been a customer since 1973 when MOS was "AL Moss". Any problems I had they addressed them.

Does anyone know "mudd"? He hasn't responded to my PM or to his post here. I have checked with sales, our sales manager and all tech staff and no one has received a call about wire wheels. If he is truly having an issue we would like to get it solved.

Thanks for any help you guys can give having him contact us.

Shawn,

He probably figured out that the problem was something else and not the wheels.

It says alot about how you run your business to see your response and concern, even when you've not had direct contact from the customer. I think you know how to win friends and influence people!

Thanks for keeping our aging fleet alive! Jeff

sorry, been busy,

yep, were spun on the car, shawn, sent you a e mail
thanks. hopefully the rims can be fixed somehow

Rims CAN be knocked out of true when tires are installed with the incorrect expertise needed to do the job right. That is why I always retrue every wheel after the tires is mounted just to be sure. Moss's wheels also come with a complete set of instructions on how to and not to balance. You may have one that slipped by quality control. However... The new MWS wheels that Moss sells today have been very excellent and I see hundreds of them come through my shop for tires.
Just want to put my 2 cents in on the fact that the service from Moss and the newer MWS wheels have been super to deal with.

I would like to add a comment on MOSS customer service. I had ordered a replacement turn signal unit for my Healey and the unit worked fine for about two weeks until two of the screws inside came loose and caused a plastic part to break. I had enough spare parts to fix it, but asked the MOSS customer guy to please send me a broken unit so I could replace my spares. It took him a few months till a broken one was sent back, and then he sent it to me. Exactly what I asked for. I was very happy with the follow up. I think if you call them and ask about a problem, they will do their best to fix it.
