Chrome seam covers

I went down to a classic car show in South Pasadena today, hoping to see maybe two or three TR6s up close and personal.
There were plenty of MGs, but only one Triumph, a '75 TR6 owned by a very friendly guy called Robert.

I took a lot of photos of his excellent car of the areas I'm most concerned about on the '71 I will be getting, so that I have a yardstick for going by.

One area that caught my eye: his car had some nice chrome strips covering the fender seams:

Any comments on these? I haven't seen them for sale, to my recollection.

I seem to recall that, originally, those pieces were found only on the very, very earliest TR6s. I'll wager that these were "retrofitted" by someone on this particular car, since (at least judging by the seats) this is NOT a particularly early TR6.

Once again Andy is right.
The fender beading was only used up through 1971 but it was body color and not chrome. What you saw there was added by the person who had the car resprayed.

Are you sure 71 is correct. i thought it was only 69.
