Chrome Rostyles

Just a thought, but has anyone out there chromed their Rostyles, or know of anyone that has? Whats your thought on the look? Or if I dont do that, how about all chrome(silver) paint with chrome rings, without the black mask...
I have seen some fairly expensive chrome paint sold in pints and gallons on the internet. Just dont know how much of a chrome look it would give, or if it was just a very shiny silver without the mirror look. Again, just a thought, but would like feedback on this.
My MG is still in its infancy stage of restoration. I will be doing the sill replacements this summer, and I am about done redoing all the interior (panels) excluding the seats.
I dont want to ruin the looks of my 73'MGB. Stop me before I make it look, well whats the word I am trying to think of? You know...

P.S. By the way, I too was at the Gatlinburg meet, and rememember seeing Janels MGB there. I just didnt put 2 and 2 together. Looked good!

I like the chroming idea...but don't get rid of the black, I've seen that done and it looks bad....I'd chrome the rims then repaint the black mask, then get a set of chrome trim rings, that would look sweet!

Check the pic below - original chrome rostyles on the white 71 GT /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have no idea about getting ém chromed after-market though, sorry!

For a short while, you could get chromed rostyles as an option - they still had the black highlighting though.

Didn't Rover P5 sometimes have chrome Rostyles with 5 'spokes' ?

I painted my rosryles all silver, which I like. I'm not a big fan of the black masking. I drive on minilites, but I'm going to put some slicker tires on the Rostyle's for auto-x. I don't know about chrome and I've never seen it, but I like the all silver.

All black works well on colorful cars too.... but I really like the original color scheme best... with chrome/SS trim rings.

A couple of summers age I saw two sets of chrome ROstyle wheels in England. Both owners claimed they were an original option. On one car the chrome was starting to rust and looked terrible. The second had no rust and looled great. Neither had the chrome trim rings and both had the black mask. About six months ago I saw a set of chrome ROstyles on e-Bay. So they do exist, I just don't know where you can purchase them, but they look great.

As I wrote above, I know they exist, because my sister has a set on her '70 GT. I don't know the history of the car from new, but I'll try to get a better picture and get it posted.

Here's a picture of my 1975 BGT with Chrome rostyles, they really set the car off!

They were available for about 2 years as a factory option.....early '70's, I think.

wow, ya learn something new everyday....I really like the idea, think I'll chrome mine someday.

Thanks guys. I dont know what I want to do? But I do have time to decide. I would love to find some all chrome ones, one day, but most likely I will just go with the silver and black mask rostyles and rings.
Thanks, and if you can come up with some better pictures of the chrome rostyles, that would be great.

Thanks Sultan...
Much better pictures. I would love to find a set of chrome rostyles for my B, but if not, I will just make do with the ones I have.
Thanks guys, and if you ever see some out there for sale, remember me.
