John Loftus and Others:
I only got a quick read on that Alsa corp web site but I believe I have heard of this earlier. It Was in one of the Hot Rod magazines just a few months back. It is truely a paint, with a finish as good as chrome supposidly. It was being presented as an alternate finish when doing custom exhaust, etc. Is painted much like Powder Coating and just as durable, with no environmental factors as Powder Coating or Chroming. The Company being written about in the article was in California, I believe. Sure, left coast, wouldn't ya know it.

Check this out:

The Alsa paint is applied black/chrome/clear. So you start off with a 'perfect' black smooth finish (not the easiest thing to start with!) and then spray the chrome with high volume of air and small amount of material. The chrome needs to sit for quite a while to remove the solvents (or use heat to accelerate this), buffed with micro fiber towels and then clear coated. Very expensive paint and time consuming process although they just started selling high quality spray cans of their chrome, soft touch, and other popular finishes if you wanted to try smaller objects. The high heat "chome" paint you were referring to is probably Jet-Hot Coating.Jet-Hot There is also a chrome powder coat but I haven't seen actual parts. chrome powder coating

Cheers,
John
