MG Fans,

A few weeks ago I posted a question about Moss' and VB's replacement bumpers and asked if it was better to have the originals straightened and re-chromed rather than buying the aftermarket units...

The general consensus was to have the originals repaired and re-chromed....

I sent the bumpers and windscreen frame to a chrome shop in Mexico and just got them back.... WOW am I pleased with the result... straight as a arrow and bolted right back on... Looks outstanding.../bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif Although I did spend a freaking fortune having it done.. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif

Just wanted to say thanks to one and all for the good advice.... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif

You have averted a larger disappointment. Believe me. I have one of each on our B. Guess which one showed evidence of pitting within weeks of installation?

...aww, g'wan. Guess.

DrEntropy,

Let's see, ahhh, wait a minute, ahhh, the aftermarket one?!?!? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

My business partner bought some miscellaneous chrome parts for his Healey, hinges, flashes, etc, a year ago and they are pitted already.... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif

Did he get 'em on the car yet? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

Ah, Yep, on the car....

We did have the originals re-chromed and will be replacing the bonnet (?) hinges with the originals....
