chrome bumper conversion

i started two weeks ago on a chrome conversion on my 76 mgb. The purist will raise heck, but i hate the rubber look.
And besides the rubber, the color of my car is the ugliest yellow, looks like baby (you know what). The new color will be new racing green. i would not have attempted this if it wasn't for the wonderful people in this forum. i'll keep ya'll posted and maybe send a pic or two.

I am basically doing the same thing except in place of the chrome bumpers I'm putting the morspeed fiberglass bumpers. The true purists will hate it but quite frankly I could care less as it's my car not there's. At this point my car has parts from a 1962, 68, 73 and a quarter panel from a 77 on the right rear so original doesn't really matter at this point.

The cuts on the front end goes fairly quick with a zaw saw and a grinder. You may have to do some fitting for the grill as mine was quite tight at first. If your going to change the front valance make sure to soak them in wd 40 for a while before trying to remove them or you will have to grind them off.

look in members cars under MG. just posted some picts of my 78 B with the bumper/spoiler. Have had it on for the last year and a half, very high quality piece of fiberglass. also if anyone is going with the chrome bumper on the rear I have the part number for the conversion bracket from Moss without having to buy the complete conversion kit for the front and rear.(part number is not in the catalog) [image]https://www.britishcarforum.com/ubbthreads/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=1875&ppuser=2241[/image]

Look, the car was designed for chrome bumpers, it was designed to be lower and lighter, thats purist. Go, baby, go. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif
