So, what gifts did we give to others this year.

A tough year indeed for much of the world. Helping and giving to others, especially those close to us, is one thing that makes us human.

One of my favorite Christmas stories, the Gift of the Magi -

What things - and actions - did we give for the holidays?

Well, I gave my oldest niece and her livein a couple blankets to bundle up in when the cold weather is around, or use for picnicing in the summer. Middle niece got a book she wanted and mostly cash, since what college student wouldn't like to have some money when out with friends. And the two youngest nieces, one got college clothes for Tufts where she'll be a student next year and the other got a pile of books she wanted. In return I got their senior pictures, treats and a print on demand book one mother did of the activities of the last year they did. I'm at the point where the photos and memories mean the most as gifts.

I received the “Apollo Remastered” coffee table book (it weight 6 lbs.!) of digitally re-done photos taken by the Apollo astronauts. The 50 to 60-year-old photos, some well-known and oft reproduced, look fantastic! I gave the gift of books to my wife and a framed “Mutts” cartoon strip to my Sister.

My wife gifted me a 15/16 open end wrench. She really likes me. Now I can repair the leaky faucet. Like so many of a certain age we've run out of things we need or even wish to have. Having said that, we got a new electric mixer - the old one is as old as our marriage.
