Spitfire Choke Return Spring

Hey all,
I have a question - are there any tricks to installing the choke return spring on the SU carb? I had a sticking jet, and after replacing jets realized my choke return wasn't working on one carb. I've disassembled the choke linkage, replaced the bolt/return lever/springs but having great trouble getting that last choke return spring (one closest to carb body) wound an extra turn with enough tension before slotting it - such a small tight space and fidgety thing. Any recommendations/tricks to doing this? Much obliged.
