TR2/3/3A Choke linkage again.....

I just read this in an older Classic Motorsport magazine: "Another item affecting the system of arms and levers on the choke linkage is the horizontal bar between the two arms. If it's adjusted too short, it will hang up the jet on the front carburetor, if too long the rear jet hangs up in the "open" position causing rich running." What is the correct length of the horizontal bar supposed to be provided the slop is taken up everywhere else in the linkage?
 
MD is speaking a truth the system is fitted with a lot of slop. These cars are basic and simple and each car can be a little different when setting a choke because of variance of length of choke cable and how far back the arms the are pulled to find the sweet spot. you need the slop or stuff will hang up.
