Choke cable replacement

Has anyone found a way to thread a new choke cable from the dashboard into the engine compartment without disassembling the entire dash? Trying to this on my BJ8.
 
I use a thick string on the British cars, tying to one end or other and pulling cable thru, then tie new cable and fish back thru. Little contornist helps.
