Choke bracket

I'm taking 40559 to the panel shop on Saturday to get the door gaps taken care of and am fitting up enough parts to make it drive onto a trailer.

The choke bracket I have doesn't look original and appears to go vertically, bolted through an eye underneath the shroud and I'm not entirely sure what the lower end bolts to. Does anyone have a pic of a RHD BN4 choke bracket? It appears to be different to a LHD one which attaches to the dash support next to the steering column. The owners manual has the choke control located in the same place whether LHD or RHD, does this sound right? The cable length would tend to agree with that.

Andy.

Anyone have a early RHD car they can post a pic of the choke bracket for me please?

Got her delivered to the panel shop ok today, just a few odd stares from the neighbors. Its funny how small the Healey looks next to the Ford.

Hi Rich,

Thanks for the pic. That part is the same on mine, the thing I am unclear of is how it attaches to the rest of the vehicle. LHD vehicles have a steady bracket that goes between the firewall and the dash which has the choke bolted to it which can be seen in this pic

The other side does not use this bracket as can be seen by the two unused holes in the firewall next to the RHD steering column blanking plate

Imagine a RHD vehicle where the dash support bracket is on the RH side, I can't figure out what the choke attaches to in place of the bracket. The choke cable is not long enough to reach right over to the RH side of the vehicle.

If anyone has a pic under the dash of a RHD vehicle please could you post it.

Andy.

Andy,

My service parts list shows it attached to the parcel tray support on a RHD vehicle.

Thank you Duane, much appreciated. Part 11 is exactly the bracket I have- it just looks so home-made that I couldn't believe it is original.

Cheers,
Andy.

Andy,

Below is an original for comparison to yours. It's 2mm thick and the holes are drilled nicely. PM me with your email address if you want higer resolution pictures.

Thanks,
Duane
