My wife makes the best chicken and dumplings. Never really had them before I met her. She gets the $3.98 rotiserie chicken from Wal-Mart, we eat a meal off of that, then she uses the left overs for chicken and dumplings. Nevr knew you could eat a chicken twice. Yeah, you can make it into soup, but you sip soup, not eat it.

Well, guess what's waiting fer me downstairs ???????

Great winter meal, that. Try using flour tortillas as the dumplings. No, really! Easy and quite tasty!

Nope, my baby is happy to make 'em from scratch; wouldn't have it any other way.

Basil you're right, jus' sumtin 'bout a dumplin'!!!

Ever been over to Macomb, MS? The Dinner Bell. Huge Lazy Susan tables, you sit next to just anybody. Grab the table and rotate till you get what you want. Best Southern food around, including the chicken dumplings, peach cobbler, fried chicken, ham.......

Nope, never been there. I'm funny about other people's food, ie, gumbo, ettoufee, creole, chicken and dumplings, red beans etc...

IMO, there is only one way to do it right and ~SO~ many other ways to do it wrong. I don't like to take chances and I don't like disappointment either.

My wife made us chicken and dumplings for dinner Monday night. I love it when the weather starts to get colder.

Back in the fifties and sixties there was a place in Shreveport - Ma Miller's Boarding House. A true boarding house, and she offered lunch for around a dollar, if I recall correctly. Couple of big tables, and everyone shared whatever she fixed that day. DELICIOUS!

But the restaurant police would have a field day with her these days... :frown:

This thread inspired me to knock out a big batch of Navy Bean soup. I love "peasant food"!!!

This got me craving bad. Wife's frying me some chicken and making biscuits. Built the first fire of the season. 64 degrees outside. Oh well, if it gets me fried chicken...time well spent.
I'm holding out for chicken & dumplings this weekend.
That is some real memories food, Sir.
Makes me think of family long gone.
Thanks for the tip. Ticket to memory lane.

Yum! Lucky me, the wee woman whipped up a nice turkey breast, stuffing, sweet taters, cathead bisquits and gravy (no fat, of course).

Washed it down with some nice cab. :thirsty:

Fall is here, another summer flew by. Where does the time go? :confuse:

Well all need to get together and eat somthin' sometime.

Can't eat beans no more Doc, (gout). Which sucks living by the red bean capital of the world.
