Chicago Swap Meet yesterday was a success

...for me anyway. Met fellow BCF correspondent Peter Hays and his young son. They had BCF hats made for the swap meet.

My major reason for going (I live in the St. Louis area) was to find 2 sets of 1/4 elliptical leaf springs. I found them. They are the original type with 15 leafs per set...unavailable from Moss or Brit. Vic. Of course, they're rusty. Question: How can I tell if the leaf springs still have life in them (as in "boing-boing") rather than my exisiting springs that bottom out when going over imperfections in the road.

Your opinions/knowledge always greatfully appreciated.

Disassemble them, clean em up. Assemble and try em out. Should be fine. They of course can be reworked by a spring guy.
 
Use graphite between the leaves during assembly.

I was there, didn't met any BCFers, but was a good meet, got some parts for my TR (I know this is the Spridget part, but don't think we need to start a new topic, my first (and second) car was a Sprite, so I think that makes me a member of the honorary club forever!)

I was pleased, most of the vendors were freindly and asking reasonable prices, not give away, but certainly not major top dollar either.
