What ever became of the 2006 Healey? Anyone know? Healey 5000 060.jpg

Hi John,

I was reading some feature story that they paid the Healey family about 3 big ones for the name! But who knows....

Can't say that the chinese motortrend version of the Healey is inspiring - prefer Drambuie's rendition....As for the MGTF, well, gone are the good old days. Always loved my teal blue '71 chrome bumper model. But then it's always hard to give up the things you grew up with...the drive in A&Ws, church dances, good music, and what was her name?...that heartbreaker with the blue eyes and short skirt...

Looks like a Saturn Sky on steroids. I read BMW already had a two seater sports car the Z4, so instead decided to build the MINI.

I don't know if it's sacrilegious to say this, but I really hope there is never a "new" Healey. Perhaps BMW had the best shot at coming up with a six-cylinder successor when they came up with "Project Warwick" and they've done a great job with the MINI update, but anything coming out of a limited production manufacturer is likely to be in the $75k neighborhood and just not have the essence of "Healey". I just think this is a case of "You can't go home again."

I tend to agree! However, In my mind at least if Healeys where to be manufactured again, I think it would be best to produce them the same way Superformance builds cobras.... as a specialty car that can get around all the government restrictions. The goal would be to build Healeys to the original spec's as far as the chassis, body and interiors. The improvements would be a stiffer frame, all independent suspension, 4 wheel disk brakes, rack and pinion steering and a all aluminum high performance DOC motor specially built for the Healey... Basicly improving on the vintage design, but keeping it vintage! Doing things that should have been done in the first place! At least that would be my idea of a new Healey..... the body and interior would stay the exact same as original.
