chassis plate location

whereabouts is the chassis plate to be found on a 73-74 midget also do they carry information about the cars colour

There should be two locations. One just to the left of the windshield steady rod, that lists only the VIN.
The second is on the drivers side B post (rear of the drivers door opening.)
This lists the VIN, and the date of manufacture. No color or options information is listed anywhere that I know of.
You can get the information on the original color by getting a Heritage Certificate from the British Motor Heritage Trust.
