Hi Guys,
I was 14 years old when Jaguar announced the Jaguar E-Type and it left me with a life long impression of a fabulous car and an ambition to own one.
I was 51 before I had enough money to make a purchase of a 1971 series 3 V12 FHC. I drove it and repaired it myself until a devastating fire in 2004.
I am just coming to the end of a 21 year rebuild and need help with one particular problem. Regards to all, Chris.

Hi Chris - welcome to BCF. I felt the same when I first saw an E-type - but never had the dollars. Settled (?) for a 1959 TR3.

For tech help, you might want to post in the Jaguar area:

I *did* have a MkVII long ago. Ah, the memories.

Tom M.

Thanks Tom.
I will do that soon if I need to.
An internet search brought me here to someone who has had the same problem and who found the fix in a Garage in Sarasota.
I have reached out to them this afternoon via their contact link.
MKV11 Grace, Space, Pace. Quite a bit of leg room in the back and an engine that won at Le Mans.
Regards
Chris

Welcome!

I'd be curious as to who in Sarasota... only a couple shops and we shut ours down years ago.

Sorry that reply doesn't look good. Nissanite posted that his problem was solved by a workshop in Sarasota, namely "Lowes Automotive"

Thanks Chris.

What was the problem that Nissanite solved?
Tom M.

He had an E=Type V12. He had the engine rebuilt but post rebuild it was discovered that it failed to establish any oil pressure. Apparently it took some years before the car was given to Lowes Automotive who discovered the source of the problem.
I have an E-Type V12 and similar symptoms. The engine is a fresh rebuild and on a cold start, 40 psi shows on the pressure gauge. The oil warning light extinguishes, but within a short period the oil pressure disappears to zero and the oil light comes on. I am stumped as to why and hoping either Nissanite or Lowes Automotive can elaborate?
I have changed the oil to 20/50 as per the manual. I have changed the filter and the pressure relief valve. I have checked the function of the pressure gauge and the oil switch.
I assume the next step is sump off and check bearings, oil pick up and oil pump condition?

OK - thanks. So Nissanite didn't solve the problem?

Did you post the problem in our Jaguar forum?

BTW, Nissanite hasn't posted here since 2013, so that Jaguar thread is pretty dead, unless the other guys subscribed to get notifications of further posts. You might want to start a new thread there.

I did note that the post was 2010 and Nissanite was an older chap at that time. I also am clutching at straws.
Lowes Automotive is still in business and just maybe someone remembers the job. I have contacted them yesterday via their contact link.
