CHANGING TO FRONT DISCs

Not so much difference in stopping distance (your tires factor in here) since both disks and drums SHOULD be able to lock the wheels. The difference that I have noticed is that disks don't fade nearly as much and they stay adjusted LOTS longer.
When the drums are adjusted perfectly then there isn't much difference but drums go out of adjustment fairly fast and the disks virtually never do.

Not so much distance, but I think better control and less pressure needed under hard braking. The rotary has pushed both system to their limits and the disc's are much better and instill a little more confidence when running her in there deep. They have limits, but with a fresh rebuild, fluid and good rigid lines there good enough to run around town for sure.

I suspect not so much a reduction of distance but pucker factor.
