Hello all! The original interior color of my 73 TR6 is black. I plan to restore the original paint on the exterior which is French Blue. In eastern North Carolina the sun and black interiors make for uncomfortable summertime driving. What are your thoughts on changing the interior to tan? While there are no thoughts on selling "Frenchie", will getting away from the original color affect the value enough that I should stay with the original black?"

As always, I respect your opinions.
 
I just got through changing my interior from a mish-mash of original new tan and dyed (to match) replacement pieces with black carpet to light tan with matching tan carpet. I couldn't be happier with the results.

Resale value is a tricky thing, but unless I was looking for a concourse car, as long as the interior was well done it wouldn't affect the price that I would pay.
 
Hello Greensboro. I am in Greenville. You and I are thinking along the same lines. I really like the tan, and think it would look great with the blue.

Any other comments from out there?

I'm going to try to head down to Greenville to the BMW show this October. I think Triumph is the featured marque.

Do you attend any shows? I'm not a big car show guy, but I'm determined to do a few this year.
 
I wouldn't get too hung up on a change in interior color affecting value -- few of our TRs are so scarce that such a change would be a big negative. If you can go with a tan that was an original TR6 interior so much the better.

You might think twice if you're considering a tan carpet to go with it. That will look nice but will be harder to keep looking nice over time. Black carpet seems to last forever.

Just my opinion, but I think tan would look superb and a nice, new and well-matched interior would really enhance the value of the car.

I agree with Alan. I happen to like the black interior with French Blue, but original TR6 tan looks good too. Either way, a high-quality interior that looks original will increase the value.
