Being a late model MGB owner I was conditioned to hate Zenith Stromberg carbs with a passion. The water choke on the single carb along with the very restrictive manifold design means that most of them end up in the trash can and are replaced with SUs or a Weber carb.

When I bought my 71 TR6 it had been converted to 2 inch SU Carbs from a Jag. With this setup the car would run out of power around 4k RPM and was only getting 12 MPG.

After talking to Jeff at Paltech https://paltech1.com/index.html I decided to go with the origional ZS setup that had been rebuilt and polished by Jeff.
After driving the 6 with the rebuilt ZS's for a couple of weeks I have done the right thing. The engine now pulls strong to the redline yet idles nicely around 800 RPM. The gas mileage is up to the mid 20s which is much improved over the HD8s.

The carbs came allready set up and put together and only required the idle to be set, every thing else was allready adjusted.

I now have newfound respect for the ZS carbs and would recomend Paltech to anyone needing their carbs rebuilt. The finish on then is outstanding inside and out.

I'm hoping to have his tri-carb setup on my TR6 by spring.

Yours and Tinsters look very good.

I've had too many 6's over the years to remember what carbs they had...but this one and my previous 6 had the factory ZS carbs, on my current car both carbs where recently rebuilt before I bought it....and perform very well after I gave them a quick tunning. But I am not so sure about that factory air cleaner...My car seems to run better without it(I removed it to tune the carbs and haven't put it back on yet) it's got a band new filter element, so I think the problem is in the initial design - doesn't look like the caseing allows alot of air in.
