Change a generator belt in 5 Seconds...

Watch those fingers, indeed!

I have never done it with the engine running but I have by bumping the starter. Even had a special tool for riding the belt over the pulley. Fine for emergency situations and works better if the adjusting pulley is backed off.

The problem is that is can easily tear the belt and can even break cords in the belt.

The special tool caused so much damage that I threw it away probably 30 years ago after only using it a couple times.

Reminds me of the guy inflating hit tire with gasoline and a match.
I prefer ether myself... Only as a last ditch effort to seat extremely stubborn beads.
How about using a torch to free up siezed line nuts on older GM fuel filters? Make sure there are no leaks first! Also a last ditch effort.
Of course that video is just another reason I want an old VW. I'm still up for a trade for my TR2? anybody? hehehehe
