How many of us knew that it is really not "Chomping" at the bit?

And, any other good phrases out there they are commonly misused?

And, we won't even talk about proper comma usage....

These things bother me -- dare I say it -- <span style="font-style: italic">alot</span>. But I'm sure I'll be <span style="font-style: italic">alright</span>.

What bothers you allot? :jester:

Now you tell me !!! I had an english teacher beat into my head alot is spelled with two L's. I want my money back!!!

Seriously, I don't mind if y'all correct me. Actually, I'd prefer you would. I don't have a spell check on this and I figure better to have too many letters than not enough. Might just look like a typo.

All I can say is that my old English teacher (not to be confused with an Old English teacher) used to yell at us if we used "alot." He claimed that it should be "a lot."

If you can read this, Mr. Brusa, give us a sign from beyond the grave!

Re: "Champing at the Bit" and other phrases

If vegetable oil is made of vegetables and corn oil is made of corn, what are baby oil and motor oil made of?

Carla and I are still trying to learn to speak properly since we moved from Alaska to Kentucky only three years ago. Caint quiite git the hang of it yit. The frase that gits us real bad is when someone actually WANTS to hep ya with sumpin and says "I WOULDN'T care to hep ya with that". Are we just ignert or is that a poorly worded phrase?
