The "bad lifters' that many have seen over the past several years is the result of two things...cheap, Chinese and other 3rd world parts being sold as OEM-quality and the newer oils that lack the necessary additives to protect the high-friction sliding surfaces of a flat tappet cam.

Both can be avoided by buying quality lifters from proven suppliers and using a 15W40 diesel oil with enough of an additive package to insure long lifter life.

Volumes of posts and stories have been posted on this subject everywhere ad nauseum ...

I doubt that any stock or mild performance TR engine would benefit from ceramic lifters. Not that they may not have a place in racing...
