Center-lock to "normal" wheels?

Just a quick question...
What parts are needed to convert from center-lock to "regular" wheels? I have a '79 Midget that is being rebuilt for track and autox use and I don't want to deal with mounting tires on centerlock wheels.

Also, does anybody want to trade the centerlock bits for standard bits?

You will need a steel wheel axle housing as the wire wheel axle housing is one inch less in width. If you try to put steel wheel axles in the housing they will be 1/2 inch too long and not seat on the hub. You could take a chop saw and cut 1/2" off the splined end of the axles and keep the wire wheel housing. If you were in the Houston Texas area I would trade ya. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cowboy.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cowboy.gif

What about up front? I haven't looked at it yet - will it require new uprights, or just the hub?

I believe it's just the hubs that change at the front.

Generally the demand for wire rear axles is much higher than for regular, so you should easily be able to buy a regular one, sell the wire one and end up in profit.
