Caving In [5-speed conversion for BN2]

Re: Caving in

Is that a Jag bezel, or did you have it made?

That's a Series I E-Type bezel, available from most of the Jag stockists. When moving my headlight dipper to the dash, I used an extended toggle to make it easier to find in the dark.

I really would like to have an MGA = Flash-to-pass switch but very hard to find and expensive when you do: https://mgaguru.com/mgtech/accessories/at113.htm

Re: Caving in

Rick.... flashing to pass isn't something I seem to have many opportunities to use :peaceful:

My switch is a three-position one: Up for high, center for low and down is spring-loaded for flash-to-pass. Because it's in the O/D switch hole it doesn't need to be long. It operates relays.

Re: Caving in

Steve,

Instead of trying to eke more power out of those lorry motors, drop in a V8 and your passing opportunities will increase immensely.

Rick, you know funny you should mention that... a couple of my friends have been telling me that for years!! .... and yet ... I keep on trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear ... ah well ... I enjoy the challenge!

This is in response to Steve G's question about the original BN2 clutch lever pivot, welded on stud versus a Jule frame. The master cylinder holding bracket that came with my kit doesn't come close to fitting due to inadequate clearance between the edge of the oil pan where it mates with the block. I'll be doing something similar to Dave Deamer most likley but I will talk to Pete Delaney tomorrow and see what he says.

Welcome to the dark side! I put a small clock (from a motorcycle shop) in place of the O/D switch. I was thinking of leaving the switch in place, and labelling it 'Nitrous'...

I always wanted a "Passenger Ejection Seat" switch.
This is better. I can carry extra missiles and a lot easier than replacing a seat every time I use it.
