cats on cars

OK

does anyone have experiance on something that works to keep them out of cars ?

moth balls or something like that, I do not want to hurt them, just keep them out of the cars ,

someone said ginger works , anything else ?

thanks for the none "kill" ideas

Over here they are classified as vermin, (thats why there is no requirement to register them like dogs) ie they are very good at decimating the native fauna, so most councils will lend you a cat trap, catch the feline and return all to council, if owner wants there moggie back they pay the impoundment fees

mouse traps strategically placed - for sound not damage (I like cats)

dont mind the cats myself, I think my dog and next doors cats play a game to make em all look like they are actively engaged in internecine warfare, just wish the cats would nail the local rats and crap in there own backyard!

Here's my solution...

First, you HAVE to use a cover otherwise what difference does it make? Cat or dirt in air...same thing.

Second, make the top of the car an uncomfortable place to be or lay. Get a couple small chair mats or old vinyl car floor matts and lay them upside down on your car. The cat won't like the spikes.

Third, give the cat a better alternative to your car. They like to be up high where the air is warmer, and where they can perch to see what's going on around them. Either buy or build one of those cat "tree houses" that have soft lambswool compartments...you'll find they will prefer that over the top of the car.

My 2 sense.

crinkly things cats don't like - as I recall,we put tin foil on the couch - or double sided tape

I have never had a cat that slept in the same place every night. Give it some time and the cat will probably move on to another car. Whatever you do if you find a cat on your car don't scare it. The cat will take off with claws out leaving nice little scatches in your paint.

The ginger spread around the car, while wearing tinfoil hats, will ensure communication from the cat aliens! MEOW!

Get caught doing that here in Texas... you go to prison for up to 6 years.... it ain't worth PETA being on your buttocks, either. Me thinks you're cruel.

How come all the greamlins in this thread are just red 'x's'? Did a cat eat them?

OK......

here is my latest idea,

the plastic that you see under an office chair to protect the carpet....
turn it upside down and it has hard plastic pins ,

I doubt that its very confortable for cats to walk on and bad to lay on.....

What do you think ?

Use www.tinyurl.com

https://tinyurl.com/6le2ks

Our imperial grand potentate Basil has wisely set up the boards in such a way that certain characters (@ for instance) are read as pictures not characters. This prevents emails from being harvested but also means that certain web addresses don't work - a small trade off to my mind. In other words, it's not you, it's the software

BTW if only Petsmart could combine that with a trickle cherger we'd be in business.

The problem isn't the @ character (there isn't one in his link). The problem is that the forum software can't understand the complicated url. Use the following format:

[ url ] webaddress [ / url ]

...but without the spaces. It would look like this when done:

https://www.mgnuts.com

The way you've done it above would require a bit of text between the url tags. Example:

[ url =webaddress ] this is a link [ / url ]

This format would look like this when done right.

If you don't mind getting your car wet for a while, get a "scarecrow" sprinkler head.

This sounds like a great option. Where would we find such a device? Some of the other options e.g. foil, desk mats, sticky tape, etc. sound as if they potentially could scratch up the paint just as easily as the maligned feline.
