Since a fateful day back in the60's, when I added Lockheed Brake fluid to the master cylinder of a '57 Healy, with catastrophic results,I might add, I have ALWAYS used LMA.
The major auto stores don't carry it any longer, so I dutufully went to my local British car emporium.
LMA is SYNTHETIC! It says it is DOT 3 and 4 compatible.
I'M SCARED!! Will it mix with what's there, or am I looking at another brand?

Pep Boys has it here. All DOT 4 is synthetic, always has been. I think you're worried about silicone which LMA (or any DOT4 ) is not.

I just went through this - it's ok to use!
 
On the other hand, unless you have VERY old seals in a Girling system, you're ok with modern fluids too.
And remember, quite a lot of LBCs have Lockheed brake systems!

Back in the early 70s a vendor in the UK started selling generic brake fluid for use in both Lockheed and Girling systems, despite the manufacturers' warnings that you must use either Lockheed (amber) or Girling (crimson) as appropriate. Turned out the manufacturers' insistence was a load of twaddle.
