TR2/3/3A Cast Aluminum Valve Cover TR3

Was there a factory option for a cast aluminum valve cover on TR3? I can find the information on the engine sump but not valve cover. Seems like I remember reading one time that the al valve cover was an option but can't find reference.

This was taken from TRA Judging Standards and Restoration Guidelines.

Cast Aluminum Valve Covers. According to The Roadster Factory, an aluminum cover was optional equipment.
SPCEd4, however, does not specify such as optional high speed equipment or as an accessory. Research on
accessories published in a VTR newsletter (ref: The Vintage Triumph Quarterly Magazine , pg 902) indicates that
while these might have been offered from the factory it could not be confirmed; however, such covers were
definitely dealer options. These covers will be accepted as original equipment.

Thanks for the response. I like the way the al valve cover look but probably won't like the price. Anyway, I have the original chrome cover at present. I received it back from getting re plated--chromed. To make a long story short, I'm guessing the valve cover was left to plate too long. The valve cover "cap" no longer fits (too small). I may just throw it out the window and get the al valve cover in place.

I also like the look of the cast valve cover, the Triumph Tune I beleive is the Valve cover they are referring to.

Those caps are often a snug fit, maybe a bit of light filing around the lip of the snout will let it go on. Otherwise, can I stand outside your window?

Actually I live in a one story house /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Seriously though, let me look at the cost of these al valve covers. If I feel I don't have alot of costs to recover I could throw the old valve cover to AZ.
