Cars from Brasil

I am part of a microcar Yahoo group and the other day a member published this link: Brazilian Car Ads The ads themselves are cool, but then I saw this:

a Brasinca Uiraperu. (only 73 made) Notice any resemblance to anything?

But then, I kept on scrolling and found a Karmen Ghia. Big deal says I I know what Karman Ghia's look like than - than I looked and - Oh My! Again, I have never seen one, had no idea VW continued the model but I think I might trade the Midget for this car. Now I think the second one is not actually a Ghia - but still.... It also amazes me that just when I think I know all about all different cars another shows up that I have never seen or heard of. Amazing!

First one definitely has Jensen genes.

And I love those VWs! First one has the fender line of the regular Ghia.

There are so many cars elsewhere that we've never had the pleasure of viewing.

Yeah, Brazilians like their cars!
And there are quite a few interesting home-grown cars there. Especially VWs. I've always like the VW Puma (see below)

On a side note, my Dad had a normal '56 Ford pickup truck when I was in high school. The frame was stamped "Made in Brazil".

OK this is clever too, poking around the website

Humour

HAHAHAHA... that site is fun.
I love the Giha in the second ad! Looks like a cross between the Karman, and my Type 3
I've never seen a VW Puma. I really like that!

Puma's are nice - they are rare but not of unheard of here. (these currently for sale)

Puma 1

Puma 2

As noted in the second link, Puma's were sold in Canada for a short while, I've seen a couple in my wanderings, but I would have been knee high when they were new cars on the market...

Hmmm.. I wonder what'd take to bring it into the U.S.?(Not that I could actually do it. Just wondering)

Bonaire gets many cars from Brazil. Quite simply - they fall apart - quite literally.

If they're 25 years old or older, it's reasonably simpler. Brought my MGB in from Canada to the US last year. Shipping company handled the paperwork, local DMV had no problem issuing a Utah title.

That second one really looks like it has some early SAAB in it.

The Uirapuru started and ended its limited production before the Mk 1 Interceptor started production in 1966 so I don't think there was any real influence. Maybe they'd been scared by a 1964 Plymouth Barracuda? I agree that the resemblance is striking.
