Looks like either a fold out cup-holder, or one of those Kenwood flip-face stereo recievers.

Thought I saw the nose of a 240Z. Haven't seen one

It kinda looks like an ashtray. Half-circle one, push on one side and it rotates open... but that seems a bodge of a good TR3 glovebox door. :shrug:
